Events in Japan for Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s Birthday

On 19 June, 300 Burmese activists and supporters gathered at the UN Building in Tokyo to hold a religious ceremony and candlelight vigil for Daw Aung San Suu Kyi on her 65th Birthday. See more photos. Watch the video.

Japanese Senator also recorded a birthday greeting for Daw Suu. Azuma Konno is the Secretary General of the Japanese Parliamentary Group Supporting Democratization in Myanmar. Watch the video.

On the same day, 10 Japanese organizations sent a letter to Senior General Than Shwe, urging him to hold a genuine dialogue with Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. Read the letter in Burmese.
